Saturday, May 11 Snell Valley Rare Wildflower Walk, Missimer Wildflower Preserve Leader: Jake Ruygt (707) 253-1839 The Missimer Wildflower Preserve is known for the diversity and display of wildflowers that occur in the extremely rare serpentine grassland habitat in the spring. The wildflower fields have long been recognized by Bay Area botanists as gems of the regional flora of the North Coast Ranges. Highlight species in May would be Delphiniums, cream sacs, and Ithuriel's spear. After exploring the large meadow to the south of the road we will have lunch next to the small creek to the north, followed by further exploration of the woodland and chaparral habitats nearby. An afternoon walk to explore the woodland and chaparral habitats may be added if there is enough interest. This hike requires registration.
